Lidds Continues to Weave his Magic!!

You have to wonder about stand-in Darlo manager Craig Liddle, can he walk on water, too? That is, at the same time as running a highly successful youth scheme involving under-9s right through to under-16s; and now producing Darlington’s third successive win at home to a very respectable Tamworth team. Whatever the truth, I can’t think of a better servant to the club on and off the pitch – who has given so much in return for so little personal reward. But if you’ve ever met the man, you’ll know what a quiet, unassuming person he is.

And this latest win, 2-0, with goals from Adam Rundle and youngster Dale Hopson (who seems to be attracting a few visitors from higher up the leagues) has bombarded the Come On Darlo Prediction League with a mass of points – only 34 managers didn’t predict a home win (shame on you!!!). And with that Malcolm Cundick’s third XI has ascended the throne (for now) - sitting there with 62 points – his other two teams strangely had the same result :) :) :)

Chris Kane drops back to second on 59, but Jean Johnson’s eight-pointer moves her to third on 36. Long-distance man Martin Clarke jumps back into contention on 53 points with his max score, joining Neil Danby in fourth place.

And the host of other top scorers are: Alec Lawson, Alex Wilson, Alf Hutchinson, Andrew Serginson, Andrew Vernon, Avril Dent, Carl Hankin, Chris Mackenzie, Chris Walton, Colin Wakefield, Dave Woods, Diana Willsher, Ecnal Dnaleri, Edward Cundick, Frank Mann, James Cagney, John Baskerville, John Berry 1, Kevin Kidger, Lance Ireland, Lewis Raper, Mark Kirk, Mark Stephenson, Martin Cass, Michael Roberts, Neil Raper, Nick Walters, Paul Hodgson, Peter Ashmore 1, Peter White, Randolph Scott, Richard Widmark, Robert Mitchum, Steve Calvert 1, Steve Duffy 1, Steve McGarvie, Tim Hewitson, Will Caxton

The bottom three become four – Andrew Pickersgill joining Luke Hewitson, Richard Soul and Thomas Jackson, all with 12 points. Bit hard to divide a wooden spoon into four!!!

Away to league leaders Wrexham on Wednesday night – live on TV if you have that pay-per-view channel tucked away in the nether regions of Sky. Can the miracle continue?

Pete
